The folk dance group "Sõle Segajad" came together in the beginning of 2015 for the 20th birthday celebration of women dance group "Hiiu sõlg". Women also called their men and their friends to diversify the birthday party program. The show was meant to be performed only once - on the birthday party and consisted of two dances but the men were infected by the "dance disease" and that is how they have continued dancing until this day.
In addition to traditional Estonian folk dance, some local dances and games of Hiiumaa origin are also danced. Folk-filled dances are easy to learn and suitable for each age meaning it is easy to involve the children and the audience. There is an important place for the children in the group, they are involved with games, dance, trainings, and performances. The dance group is supervised by Helgi Taelma and the home of the group is Cultural center of Käina. |
